Below are sites that I used to run but, sadly, are now closed. The ones that were found on this domain show thumbnails of the layout. The ones that are really old, dating back to when I still had Homestead, have no existing layout examples.
Title: Weasley Love
Description: Fansite for OBHWF (Harry Potter couples)
Reason for closing: Stupid thing led to my domain getting hacked, and no one was even visiting it anymore, so I just deleted the whole dang thing. JKR pretty much destroyed the OBHWF in the last book, anyway, so there went that. (BTW, the site's definition of OBHWF didn't just pertain to H/G and R/Hr, but to the happily-ever-after of all the Weasley siblings. Maybe now you will see what I mean when I say JKR destroyed that in the last book.)
Title: Memories
Description: Fanlisting for "The Storm" (Avatar ep. 112)
Reason for closing: Complete loss of interest in the entire Avatar series. I tried to adopt this site out on a number of occasions, but all interested parties fell through, so I decided to just close it.
Title: Love in the Strangest of Places
Description: Fanlisting for Cully Barnaby/Gavin Troy from Midsomer Murders
Reason for closing: Few members and general lack of interest; additionally, the show went in a different direction and the pairing didn't even work out.
Title: Blue Skies
Description: Fanlisting for "A Chance to Shine" by Akino
Reason for closing: It was open for an entire year and no one joined.
Title: Sunlit Path
Description: Fanlisting for "Hi No Ataru Sakamichi" by Do As Infinity
Reason for closing: Domain got hacked and I didn't have the time or enthusiasm for the subject to re-upload this listing.
Title: Fade Away
Description: Fanlisting for "Wadachi" by Do As Infinity
Reason for closing: Domain got hacked and I didn't have the time or enthusiasm for the subject to re-upload this listing. A shame, because it was only up for a few weeks before the hack.
Title: Realms of Atlantis
Description: Fanlisting for / Guide to Atlantis fanfiction original characters
Reason for closing: I loved the premise of the site, but it proved to be far too overwhelming for one person to manage, and no one seemed interested in helping me with it or adopting it. The fanlisting also had few members and few visitors, so it didn't seem worth the effort. I think the problem with the site was that I opened it too long after the mania over Atlantis had died down.
Title: Schizo-Shipper
Description: Web-clique for people torn between multiple 'ships involving the same character
Reason for closing: This was an idea that my friend Lauren and I cooked up when we were discussing how torn we were between Ron/Hermione and Draco/Hermione from Harry Potter. We realized this indecisiveness spread to other fandoms, too, and so we thought we could start a clique and unite other schizo-shippers. Apparently, though, it was a doomed
project from the start; our wires crossed and instead of it being one collaborative effort, we each made a site. After six months of no members, I decided to defer to Lauren's shrine; in the end, though, she closed her site, too, thus ending the schizo-shipper clique.
Title: A Common Bond
Description: A relationship fanlistings network
Reason For Closing: This network was started by my friend Gidget and I in a response to the new rule at TFL, forcing all current relationship fanlistings to focus on not only friendship and romance, but also rivalry, and the rude way we and our friend Jenn were treated in the wake of the new rule. The goal of the network was to allow site owners to choose which aspect of the relationship they wanted to focus on. The network started off with a bang; unfortunately, when the summer ended, Gidget got wrapped up in work and stopped updating. I e-mailed her on more than one occasion requesting she give me FTP access so I could update the site,
but she didn't respond, which I took as her way of saying the network was dead. In the meantime, applications were piling up unanswered, fanlistings that were in the network were getting no members or visitors, and it was proving to be a giant waste of time, so I pulled all my fanlistings from the network, stopped even reading applications (for fear they would depress me), and went back to TFL. Yes, I sold out, but at least now my FLs are getting members. Besides, for every rude, disorganized TFL staffer there's a nice, efficient one; and nobody pays attention to that stupid rivalry rule anyway.
Still Interested? There's an alternative fanlistings network, The Taboolistings, that approves fanlistings TFL will not, including specific relationship categories.
Title: RLS Legacy
Description: Fansite dedicated to Treasure Planet
Reason for closing: This was to be my Atlantis 12345 for the Treasure Planet community, but I was less interested in the site and the movie than I was with Atlantis. Also, thievery and hotlinking ran rampant in the TP community, so I just lost interest and deleted the whole thing (much to the dismay of the direct-linkers, who probably lost all their stuff, mwa-ha-ha!)
Title: My Magic Kingdom
Description: A fansite dedicated to umpteen different fandoms
Reason for closing: This was my first website, started when I was 14, and it was a joke. It was cluttered and disorganized, and contributed nothing meaningful to any of the fandoms. I wound up using it as a place to join fanlistings and webrings on...so you could kind of say, it evolved into Blue Magic, couldn't you?
